Secure Shell, also known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange data between a server and a client. Given that the data exchanged by the two sides is encoded, a 3rd party can't intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of handling a website hosting account. The commands that may be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for example, the alternatives are limited since you shall not have root access to the website hosting server, so you may only create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, and so on. These are all actions which are executed within the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you will have the ability to install server-side software or to restart the server or just a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted via a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are tons of applications for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote hosting server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting

SSH access is provided with all Linux cloud hosting packages that we offer. With some of them, it is included by default, while with others it is an additional upgrade which you can include with just a few clicks in your web hosting Control Panel. You can get SSH access through the section dedicated to it where you can also find the info which you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You can pick the password which you shall use and, if needed, you shall be able to change it with a couple of clicks from the same spot. All the commands which can be used with our shared plans are listed inside a help article alongside relevant instances. If the SSH access function is allowed for your account, you'll also be able to upload files using your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All our semi-dedicated server accounts offer the possibility to access and manage them through SSH. If the package deal that you've selected comes with this function by default, you just need to activate the SSH access feature via the corresponding section of the Hepsia Control Panel. If the function is listed as an optional upgrade, you can quickly add it via the Add Services/Upgrades link within the Hepsia CP and it'll be available within a minute. We have various help articles and video lessons concerning the use of SSH commands to manage your account and a whole list of the commands which you can carry out together with various examples to provide you with a better perception of what you can do. If SSH is enabled, you'll also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload files safely and securely using any FTP app which supports the feature.

SSH Telnet in VPS Hosting

The virtual private server solutions which we offer come with SSH access as standard, not as an optional upgrade or a feature which you have to enable. The minute your new server is ready, you'll be able to connect and start working on your content through the login details which you have entered throughout the order procedure. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via email too. As your VPS shall be isolated from the other ones on the physical server, there aren't any limitations regarding what you can or can't do using SSH. You may download, install and manage any piece of software which will run on a Linux machine, reboot the entire server or just a specific software component, and work with files, folders and databases without any restrictions. All you will require for that is a console or an SSH client on your end.
